Sajama

Climbing Sajama typically takes three to four days. On the first day, we drive from the village Sajama to the starting point of the climb and ascend comfortably through a valley to the base camp, from where we have a fantastic view of the volcano. On the second day, we climb to the high camp, from where we attempt the summit on the third day. Just above the camp we pass the only short and easy climbing sections. After enjoying the expansive summit with its sweeping views over the Altiplano and the neighboring peaks, we descend to the base camp or even to the village Sajama. Ascents are possible year-round. However, the months of April to October are particularly suitable, as they have little snowfall. During these months, Sajama offers the highest probability of success among the Big Five. It is therefore also a very good first mountain for the 5-Summit Challenge.
