Aconcagua

In contrast to many high Andean peaks, where ascents leave you virtually alone on the mountain and where infrastructure is scarce, Aconcagua attracts climbers from all over the world. The large base camps of Plaza de Mulas and Plaza Argentina stand in stark contrast to the otherwise typical experience of solitude in the Andes. the ascent via the normal route with Plaza de Mulas base camp or the so-called False Polish route (through Valle de Vacas) with Plaza Argentina base camp is technically easy and the trail and camp infrastructure is well-developed. Therefore, Aconcagua is ideal for testing one's skills at high altitudes. The mountain is usually climbed in the summer months from December to February in expeditions lasting approximately two weeks. However, acclimatized climbers can also climb the mountain much faster.
